Vestibular Rehabilitation

The vestibular system provides our sense of balance by relaying information about our body position in a way that allows us to generate rapid compensatory movements to maintain balance in response to self-induced and externally generated forces. The vestibular system is actually contained within our inner ear.

If you experience mild to intense dizziness that is triggered by specific changes in your head’s position, you may have Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) or commonly referred to as Vertigo.

You may notice these dizziness or room spinning symptoms when you tip your head up or down, when you lie down or when ever turning over or sitting up in bed.

Physiotherapy can be quite an effective treatment in resolving symptoms in people who exhibit BPPV or vertigo and most people often notice a positive difference after just one session. Treatment is pain free and involves a series of positional manoeuvres that help regain normal vestibular senses.
